It's that time of year again....to flee the cold for the bright sandy beaches of South Beach, Florida. It is our annual gathering at Art Basel. This year I am in pursuit of that final piece that will complete a dramatic bedroom design.

I Got Dibs...
As a designer you are often on the lookout for inspiration. This can be when you are out during your day to day, or even while holed up in a hotel, on a computer, like I am! Top pick for inspiration this week is 1stdibs.com. I think the best part of this resource, is the "one of kind" aspect that you will find here. End result is injecting a unique look into your interior design. Currently they have highlighted selections by Kelly Wearstler, one of my favorite designers for her taste in texture and bold shapes
Of course her picks are not for every budget, but certainly inspiring...

(there is problem with blogger code right now, but you should be able to paste the link into your browser, I am working on a fix)

Frieze Me
Major Art Fairs happening in New York this weekend, here is a snapshot of one of the shows "Frieze New York 2014". Be sure to checkout all of them including PULSE, Collective Design, and Downtown Fair. What better a place to see Art, other than Art Basel Miami, then in New York!
Finding Omer Arbel....
This is a presentation series I did on the Designer Omer Arbel. It was an interesting experience to interview him to say the least, one of which I will be processing for years to come, but I think he has some compelling ideas for modern design. The video shows a few examples of his work.

Nature's Colours
The latest Intimate + Fidel interior design project is a single family residence in Boulder, Colorado. Taking nature's theme to heart, the palette of colours for the design was inspired by photographs of the regional landscape. The creative thread was to harness the hues and shades of the surrounding outdoors, and bring them inside - into the home. Each component of the home's decor was prompted by the allure and essence of the environment. Verdant green, lush leafy yellow, smoky sunset orange, earthy brown, soft silky sand, bold sky blue and crisp mountain white. The end result is a sanctuary with a feeling of genuine harmony, that mixes striking and dynamic tones, with tints that create warm and cozy effects.

Sharing this video as inspiration for those who work wherever they happen to be. I am constantly looking for a change of scenery in order to get creative work done. This guy gives great examples for incentives to work outside of the office...
The Art of the Problem
I knew there was a reason for my interest in this digital art on my recent visit to Art Basel 2013!
I am currently working on a home that has televisions pre-wired into the wall. Rather than endure the expense of ripping the walls apart to get rid of the unwanted television, I have to come up with a creative idea to minimize its use and visibility in the room. I immediately came to this digital art idea. Considering this a modern home, of a young hip family of four, an idea like this is sure to play into the creative, fun, playroom it is intended for. There are endless possibilities for color and design, as well as the ability to change the desired image.
I hate to not be able to give the artist credit, but unfortunately I took the photo in passing and forgot to note the artist. If anyone was at the NADA show in Miami this past December, please message me if you know who it is?

Everyone's A Winner Baby...
Congratulations Rotet Studio for their winning design at the 2013 BOY Awards. From the moment I stepped into The James Hotel, Miami Beach I knew it was a winner. The use of color and it's very modern throwback to the Art Deco heyday the original Hotel was built. All which is sure to stand the test of time with its classic sophisticated design. You truly need to stand inside this hotel to feel the success of the design. Be sure to stop by, or even stay on your next trip to Miami Beach.
