It’s not often that the worlds of Industrial Design and high fashion come together. These red and green carpets, made by Swedish home furnishings and furniture giant Ikea and designed by Off White White Creative Director and Louis Vuitton head menswear designer Virgil Abloh, are eye-catching examples that high design, function and affordability can combine together a striking and unique way. Part of a complete 17 piece home furnishings capsule collection called MAKERAD; which includes a clock, a mirror and a shopping bag, the carpets come in a bold lipstick red and cool golf course green, featuring the words “blue” and “wet grass” printed in Abloh’s signature Helvetica and quotation marks font. Both cheeky and fun, the carpets neatly represent Intimate + Fidel’s approach to colour, and are a modern way to add a striking splash of tone to a room, space, loft or office.
Priced at $263 and $260, the carpets are highly collectible, and are a terrific, budget- friendly investment for the first-time buyer looking for sustainable pieces that can be used in multiple ways, in different environments, over a long period.
Intimate + Fidel Interiors’ suggested method of use:
- Separate a large room or hallway into cozy sections.
- Brighten up a cold or monotone room with a bold-vibrant
tone.
- Use as the base for a statement-making piece of furniture
or high tech equipment.
The Off White x Ikea MAKERAD collection will launch at
select Ikea stores in the USA and EU in November.
